Again with project 3 our new task was to create a chick rearing enviroment converting a fire damaged 18ft container the criteria is with the design details, a design brief would be met using 250mm loft insulation to prevent heat loss, installaing air circulatory vents was necessary to ensure the chick environment air never became stagnated good quantity of warm fresh air. Climatic conditions mean a key to success in early day life of the quail. Project 3 began at the end of June 2022

The fire damageThe fire damaged container was an old internal office, all the charred timber and panelling needed to be pulled out using the tractor, there was a lot to do.

roof vent The old roof felt removed left several holes, plates welded to give roof integrity, roof vent shafts fabricated from 1mm steel plate were welded into 3 positions, these vent shafts would have flaps to allow metering of air flow

ventilation shaft

roofing felt The patches and roof vents fully fitted / painted soon the roofing felt was bonded to position folded on the edges glued. This job of roofing gave more insulative property to the convective heat loss, prevented corrosion to the building making weather proof !! September 2022

finished roofFabrication of ducts for the lower input air, it is thought convection of flowed air will work sufficiently and effectively without using forced air flow although if a plan to filter the air was in place then it would likely require some fans powered by electricity to keep the environments moving within the early life living areas up to 10 days

Personel door It was decided for safety reasons that a personel door should be made and installed October 2022

the door This new door would allow access to part of the building that would be Incubation only
